Very good serving of noodle. Lots of vegetable and extremely tasty. The noodles are nice and chewy and not to mention steamy hot in a cold day is a blessing. They also have horse meat sashimi for those dare to try. They have cute little Fuji mountain container with their home made Shichimi seasoning. You can even buy for souvenirs.

Great traditional Japanese restaurant offering both traditional as well as western seating. Although their menu is not extensive they offer up substantial portions. Very enjoyable and reasonably priced.

Friendly service! They’re prompt and welcoming. It’s likely me, but the Hōtō was pretty bland for my taste. Soba noodles, cabbage, carrots. Not many spices. Best part was the acorn squash. Wish there were more of it in the bowl.Interior is gorgeous.

There’s only one main dish with several side dishes. The main dish is a big pot (in cast iron) of healthy thick noodles in rich vegetable broth. Portion is huge for 2 persons. For small eater, please share. Sides dishes are pickles, rice pillow, pork guts, horse meat in sashimi cuts. Table seating and floor seating available. Locals’ favorite. .

Simple menu, focused on their specialty, houtou, which keeps them efficient and gives the customers what they want. The oinari is also good, but you may be too full from the houtou as it's a decent portion.Unlike the giant igloo shaped building nearby (which I'd also recommend - same restaurant chain), this restaurant's decor is traditional Japanese style, with a lot to look at and appreciate. Very comfortable, with a choice of table or tatami seating.Hotou Fudou is now somewhat of a franchise, with merchandise such as t-shirts available for sale inside the restaurant.

Yes, it's a mega bowl of delicious vegetable broth with the region's unique odon noodlee! The udon is different from and definitely better than the normal ones you are familiar with. The soup is tasty and at reasonable prices! Hmmm that's about it though...had the horse sashimi which was interesting but they have a limited menu. The noodles was wholesome but not mind blowing. Good place for a simple authentic meal if you are in Kawaguchiko! Long queues but they go quite fast.

An absolutely delicious, life-giving, warming and huge bowl of noodles. The broth had a really deep, rich and complex flavour, and the noodles were so thick and the perfect firmness and chewiness.We also ordered inari sushi which came in big pieces and this was phenomenal in its simplicity.Really nice atmosphere and architecture of the building also.

We had a big bowl of thick noodles and vegetables here, very similar to a stew. It was delicious and filling but be warned there is little else on the menu. The restaurant was full of Japanese people which we have always taken to be a good sign in Japan. The service was kind and they spoke limited English.

When we arrived at the main location that was near the train station they suggested we try a differ location of theirs that had free parking. Funny that they only had one item on the menu and some side dishes but the wooden antique ambiance was very unique and the portions were ample.

We were the only westerners and had to queue in a very long queue.. but the food was worth it ... hot, taste and filling.. they do have a limited English menu... recommend just order the Houtou noodles that is all you will need.

Great food and the biggest serving ever. Hoto – a regional soup with thick noodles, cabbage and other vegetables in a stock – is served in a huge cast iron pot and it costs roughly ¥1080 from memory. Could easily share between two making it very cheap.

Limited menu with only specialty being the noodle dish in the hot clay pot. The noodles thick and chewy, and the thick soup is vegetarian but tasty like fish soup! Worth the go around the area~ just 4 min walk from bus stop (red line)

The houtou is big portion, enough for 2 of us. (¥1100) The taste is a bit less for me, and it’s thick texture. Vegetables inside the soup is good! The inari sushi is very good (¥400).Ambiance is japanese, there is tatami area, friendly for baby and family.Location is just in front of kawaguchiko station. Worth to try the original one in here. The service is nice.

Portion was enormous but the houtou noodles here is amazing. Broth is thick and nourishing, the texture of the noodles is smooth and really good. The decor here is very traditional as well. Highly recommended!

I had the flat noodle miso soup with vegetables (what everyone must order) and it was delicious! And such a very large portion. It was hot and comforting. Costs 1,100. Also had hot sake. Not sure why we weren't able to sit on the cushions though. And closing at 7pm is rather early.

Get the horse meat sashimi. It is the best best I have ever tasted. They only serve on main dish, which is a big bowl of udom in their tofu broth. It is a must do in the Kawaguchiku region and a must try for all those seeking something different during their trip.

I would recommend two people sharing a pot of Houtou noodles and other side dishes as the pot is huge. The soup is flavorful and the vegetables are sweet and tender. The shichimi is especially more fragrant here since it's freshly made.

The thick noodle is a specialty in this region. It is firm, just the way I like, and cooked with local vegetables - radish, cabbage, leek and pumpkin, in a soup which has slight miso flavour. The restaurant is inside a beautiful wooden building. Definitely worth making the stop here.
